You have the option to manually or automatically save updates in your workflows. Choose a workflow and simply toggle the Auto Save switch to on or off. When it's enabled all changes you make will automatically be saved.
Please note that whatever setting you choose will be a global setting across all workflows. You can turn this on and off as needed.
