When creating workflows, you have two distinct rendering options for the choices you give end-users: Horizontal Buttons and Vertical Panels.
Horizontal
Horizontal style is best for short answers, where you can have multiple options per line. It looks like this:
When using Horizontal style, you'll have the ability to change their layout on individual nodes. For example, if you wanted the four buttons above to be displayed in 2 columns of two, you would choose a layout for buttons style in the Content Node editor of that node.

Vertical
Vertical style is best for longer answers, and displays one option per line, like this:
How to Change Styles
